Today is the day, the first MOOC of the TU/e is starting! This MOOC is devoted to the theme ‘Sports and Building Aerodynamics’ and is developed by Prof. dr. ir. Bert Blocken.
The MOOC isn’t just special because it’s the first ever at the TU/e but also because brand new research results are being presented within this MOOC. The MOOC not only shows how aerodynamics must measured and calculated but will also apply these theories in practical examples within cyclingsports, athletics and engineering.
Prof. dr. ir. Bert Blocken is responsible for this MOOC. He is a professor in Building Physics and Urban Physics at the faculty of Built environment at the TU/e and is a part time professor at Leuven University.
The last six months he’s been working very hard to develop the MOOC and he’s very proud of the result. “The combination of the development of the MOOC and doing new research was heavy, but we’re very happy with the fact that we’ve accomplished this. The support of the entire MOOC-team made this possible, so I’m very thankfull for them.
For each week a few web lectures have been made available with week quizzes and the MOOC will end with a final exam and a peer assessment assignment. Getting a certificate at the end will also be part of the options. The MOOC is published on the platform Coursere, that is know for their quality MOOC’s from the best Universities worldwide. At this point there are over 9000 people who have signed up to follow the MOOC. The MOOC will start the 28th of April, last for six weeks and is in English.
