The final week of the first TU/e MOOC ‘Sports and Building Aerodynamics’ has started. Prof. Dr. Ir. Bert Blocken can look back on the last couple of weeks with pride. The preparation of the MOOC was an intense process. The brand new research that has been integrated in the MOOC took up a lot of time, but the results made it worthwhile.

During the six week course there were weekly web lectures available that lasted between 8 and 15 minutes, and were accompanied by quizzes and a discussion forum. Half of may there was a physical meet-up in Eindhoven which Dutch and Spanish participants attended and where core-concepts were being discussed. The course will be finished with an exam and a peer assessment assignment.

Emeritus Professor Robert N. Meroney, one of the most prominent researchers in the history of Wind Engineering, has kindly agreed to provide some material especially for the participants of this MOOC. This material is of extra-ordinary value. Prof. Meroney was very positive about the MOOC: “I am enjoying participating in your MOOC lecture series. You are doing a fantastic job. Not only do they provide a wonderful review, but they remind me of many discussions and features of my own career over 50 years in Wind Engineering.”

Other participants were enthousiastic as well:
This course is by far the best I have done on either Coursera or similar platforms.  I am enjoying it a lot.”

These positive responses are making us look forward to the next one!
